Class of 1980

Pastor Randy & Julie (Ten Haken) Klynsma have recently accepted a position at the Northland Reformed Church in Kansas City, MO.

Class of 1982

Brian Fikkert co-authored a book on poverty alleviaition called When Helping Hurts: How to Alleviate Poverty without Hurting the Poor and Yourself (Moody Publications).  This book provides foundational concepts and clear principales for helping without hurting the poor.  Brian is an associate professor of economics and the founder and executive director fo the Chalmers Center for Economic Development at Covenant College.

Scott Flipse serves as a senior policy analyst at the United States Commission on International Religious Freedoms headquartered in Washington, DC.  Scott has a B.A. in government from Calvin College, an M.A. in Social Ethics and Religion from the University of Southern California and Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Notre Dame.

Class of 1985

Steven Dirkse is a researcher, software developer, and consultant at GAMS Development Corp. in Virginia.  He develops software used in optimization researched used to solve decision problems.

Class of 1989

Nicole (DeJong) Okamoto has a Ph.D. in engineering from the University of Illinois and is teaching at San Jose University.  Recently she received an award for best paper in engineering education at the International Conference of Engineering Education held in Jamaica.  She developed the first undergraduate electronic cooling lab in the country at San Jose State.  The Okamotos live in Mountain View, California, and have just had their first child, Erin.
