The counselor’s role is to be an advocate for the student. It is our desire that each student will succeed academically, grow spiritually and adjust socially.

Freshman

Assisting students with transitional tasks and issues. Promote student’s academic success. Promote student’s spiritual development. Assist in course selection relative to student’s educational and career goals.

Sophomore

Promote student’s academic success. Promote student’s spiritual development. Introduction to WisCareers website Assist student in discerning their God-given talents, interests and abilities Assist in course selection relative to student’s educational and career goals.

Junior
|
Promote students academic success. Promote student’s spiritual development. Investigate the world of work. Encourage participation in Workbound, an optional community school-to-work program. Assist in course selection relative to student’s educational and career goals.

Senior
|
Promote student’s academic success. Promote student’s spiritual development. Complete plans for post-high. Complete college and scholarship applications ACT and SAT tests registration

Group Counseling Small groups of students that share a common interest or challenge may meet together on an as needed basis. Groups may include: Study skills, anger management, friendship skills, dealing with family changes Some topics that pertain to the entire student body are addressed in Advisory Groups. Focus on our school theme is incorporated into Advisory Groups.
Career Planning WisCareers website is made available to students to investigate a wide range of careers. Workbound is an optional community school-to-work program College representatives visit SCCHS to speak with students and answer questions about their particular college. Scholarship information is compiled and disseminated to students Information regarding ACT & SAT test preparation and registration is available.
Consultation Works with classroom teachers to best meet the needs of all students. Assist classroom teacher in incorporating career investigation in their particular curricular area. Works with parents to deal with home/family issues that interfere with a students performance at school.
