Science Department
The study of science allows students to experience the richness and excitement of the natural world entrusted to us by God. Students will be prepared to face complex questions requiring scientific thinking and reasoning. Students will understand the mandate to be stewards of creation and acknowledge the creator’s continuing role in its preservation.

S 100 Physical Science 1 credit
Pre-requisite: Freshman status
Physical Science is a course that covers the basic concepts of physics and chemistry. The purpose of this course is to show order, plan and purpose in God’s creation; and to show God’s wisdom and power so that students can better obey and glorify God. Resources include a text-book, assignment sheets for each chapter, and our science lab.

S 200 General Biology 1 credit
Pre-requisite: Taken concurrently with Geometry or Sophomore status
The study of living things in our world is crucial to understand the world that God gave us. From this study we can see how amazing Creation is and how we can enjoy and maintain it.

S 250 Advanced Placement Biology 1 credit
Pre-requisite: General Biology and Chemistry
The study of living things in our world is crucial to understanding the world that God gave us. From this college level study we can see how amazing Creation is and how we can enjoy and maintain it.

S 300 Chemistry 1 credit
Pre-requisite: Algebra II
The study of chemistry shows how physical processes govern the world that we live in. Understanding these processes will give us better under-standing of how the laws of nature work.

S 400 Environmental Science 1 credit
Pre-requisite: Biology
This course begins by going through the creation/evolution debate. It is important for students to understand that evolution has no place in God’s creation. After going through Genesis and discussing our God-given command to be good stewards of God’s creation, the course focuses on problems affecting our fragile environment. Resources include textbooks, field trips, speakers, videos, and projects.

S 500 Physics 1 credit
Pre-requisite: C– in Algebra II
The Physics course goes several steps beyond Physical Science in exploring the physical laws that govern God’s universe. After an initial review of the science of measurement, students will learn how to apply New-ton’s laws of motion and gravitation. Further topics that are covered include energy (mechanical and thermal), sound, light and electricity. A good working knowledge of algebra and trigonometry will help the students to achieve success in Physics.

S 600 Health .5 credit
Prerequisite: Freshman status
Health is a one-semester course offered first and second semester for all freshman students. The course is divided into two parts: spiritual health and physical health. When discussing spiritual health we cover topics such as self-worth and dating. For these issues videos and a number of Bible passages are used. Work in this area includes a few small papers and some discussions. The major systems of the body and the diseases or illnesses that affect those systems are discussed. The semester ends with some discussions and videos on drugs, alcohol, and abuse.

S 700 Anatomy and Physiology .5 credit
Pre-requisite: C– in Biology
The human body has been referred to as the Temple of God. Under-standing of the structure and function of our bodies is essential in under-standing our place in God's creation.
