 Great Summer Opportunities

Criminal Justice Camp—Offers adventure and experiential learning to those who have an interest in crime fighting and prevention. Students entering junior and senior years of high school can apply. Cost is $175. Application deadline May 30, 2008. Earn a $500/year scholarship if you enroll at Marion College.
 
Marion College Business Camp—Engage in the challenges of being successful in the world of business by participating in a summer camp. The registration fee of $200 covers all expenses of the experience including lodging, food, activities and computer simulation.

New York Film Academy Summer Camps—One to four week camps for high school students interested in film making, acting, music video or screenwriting. Go to www.nyfa.com/summer_camp.
 
Health Careers Camp 2008—Northeastern Wisconsin Area Health Education Center and Lakeshore Health Care Alliance are offering a health careers camp for high school students (9th-12th grade) interested in pursuing a health career. Camp activities will be held in Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties. The Sheboygan Camp will be held at Lakeland College July 13-17 (application deadline May 9), and the Fox Valley Camp will be held June 22-26, (application deadline May 2). A $40 reservation fee is due upon notification of acceptance to the camp. All meals, lodging expense and other program costs are provided by NEWAHEC. Music Camp—Lakeland College offers music camp for students in grades 7-12. Students join performance groups and receive private or semi-private lessons. The fee for the week long session (July 27-August 2) is $360 if registered before May 1. ($385 by July 1). MSOE—Summer Programs are designed to expose high school students to the many opportunities available in the technical communication, business, nursing, engineering and related fields. The cost for one week is $650. Each session includes: academic programming, housing in residence hall, meals and evening recreational activities. Application deadline is June 20, 2008. School of the Arts at Rhinelander—One week workshops offered to adults in area of Art & Folk Art, Computer Arts, Music, Photography, Theater & Drama, and Writing. (High school juniors or seniors may attend with advance permission from director.) UW-Madison graduate credit is available. Application deadline is June 4, 2008. More information is available in the Counseling Office or at www.soa.dcs.wisc.edu.
 
BradleyUniversity, Peoria, Illinois—Camps on Campus include leadership enrichment, nursing, multicultural broadcasting and speech are some of the programs available. For more information see Mrs. Smies.

www.WisconsinMentor.org is the place for information on Wisconsin’s private colleges and universities. This site offers free online test preparation for ACT, SAT, and GRE.
 
Five Minute FAFSA video—You can watch this video explaining what the FAFSA is, and helps to make the process less intimidating for students.
