December 17, 2008
Dear Parents,
We are anticipating a flurry of fun activities at SCCHS in the next few days. On Friday night, our 3-1 varsity boys' basketball team plays host to 3-0 Oostburg. It is a highly anticipated match-up and should provide some great entertainment. We invite you to pack the stands in Blue and Gold.
On Saturday night, we have our annual Christmas Banquet. There will be a school dance held from 8:00-11:00 p.m. This dance will be chaperoned by the following people: Doug and Sally Brouwer, Mark VandeSlunt, Darla Redeker and Wayne and Sue Dykstra. Music will be provided by Rock the Flock DJ Service. Owner Chuck Towns will play songs that are fun and wholesome.
The thoughts shared by parents on hosting a school dance at SCCHS have been across the spectrum. Please know that our goal is to provide a safe, fun and healthy environment for the students and their guests. Parents, you are welcome to stop in and observe the dance at any time. There is one important rule that we will enforce - once a student leaves the building, he/she will not be allowed back in. This prevents the possibility of alcohol consumption during the dance.
In Christ,
Wayne Dykstra

Student Driving: Parents, if you have any concerns about how a student is driving in our parking lot, either driving recklessly or doing donuts, or if you see pedestrians jumping on moving cars, please contact Mr. Dykstra immediately. We cannot be out in the parking lot at all times, but we trust your judgment if you have a concern. Students will be required to park on the street for extended periods of time and serve detentions for repeat offenses. Safety is our concern, so please do not hesitate to call. Parents, you will remain anonymous to the student you report.

SCCHS Booster Board can earn a penny every time you search the Internet, and a percentage of every purchase you make online can support our cause. All you have to do is sign up with goodsearch.com.
GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up!
GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 37% of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, eBay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you’ll be supporting SCCHS.
Go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter Sheboygan County Christian High School as the charity you want to support. And be sure to spread the word!
BOOSTER BOARD CHERRY/BLUEBERRY PIE SALE:
A Cherry/Blueberry Pie order sheet is attached to this Gold Note! Save yourself the extra phone calling by sharing this order form with your co-workers, friends and family over the holidays. Encourage them to order enough, as we will only be making enough pies to fill the orders we’ve received by Jan. 26, 2009.
Once again we are offering a smaller, 6” Sweetheart size pie (in addition to our usual 10” size). This size is perfect for a single or couple. Be sure to suggest it to those who may not have purchased in the past.
To make it more convenient for you to sell pies at work, we are willing to deliver orders for 30 pies or more to your workplace on Monday afternoon, Feb. 9th. You just collect the orders along with the money and then distribute the pies to your co-workers when the pies arrive. They will thank you for providing them with the perfect Valentine’s Day gift and an easy dessert for many months ahead!
Please help us reach our goal! We can’t do it without you!
Order forms are also available on the home page of SCCHS website. Click on the box at the bottom left.
DO YOU NEED A STOCKING STUFFER? Booster Board has 35 cookbooks from the mid-1980s for sale - just $4.00 each. They are available by contacting the school office 458-9981 or any Booster Board member.
SENIORS & PARENTS: Yearbook needs the following pictures from you: one toddler picture (not infant) and two portraits – one formal and one casual. Please put student’s name on the back of the photos and bring them to the office. Any questions, call Donna Riemersma at 207-6352. Please turn portraits in as soon as they are finished.
SENIOR PARENTS: Yearbook would like to remind you to reserve your ad spot now to acknowledge your graduate’s achievements, wish them well for the future or anything else you would like to say. If you have any questions, call Donna Riemersma (458-5981) or talk to her at a ball game.
Yearbook Fundraiser: Please save your Pizza Ranch Wagons from the medium and large pizza boxes as well as 8 & 12 piece chicken boxes. Yearbook earns 25¢ per wagon. Bring them to the office for yearbook.
CHRISTMAS BANQUET – SATURDAY, DECEMBER 20:
Dear Parents,
On Saturday, December 20, the SCCHS Student Council will host the Annual Christmas Banquet. Here is some information on the evening as well as answers to some questions that you might have.
A schedule for the evening:
5:30 – 6:00 p.m. Appetizers and Picture Time
6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Dinner and Dessert
7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Entertainment
8:00 – 11:00 p.m. Dance
All events will take place at the school, either in the gym or MPR.
In order to plan enough food, students must have signed up for a table by Monday, December 15 and paid $15 in the office by today, December 17. There are eight people per table, and tables with less than eight may be combined to create full tables. Students are allowed to bring dates but it is not a requirement. If your child is bringing someone from another school, there was a form that was available in the office and needed to be completed and returned by Monday, December 15.
This is considered to be a formal event and dress for the evening should reflect this. Girls are expected to wear dresses and boys shirts and ties (a tux or prom dress is not required). We simply want students to look their best. Most students do not change clothes before the dance, but if your child would like to be more comfortable, he/she may change as long as he/she adheres to the school dress code.
The Student Council has hired Rock the Flock DJ Service from Neenah, WI. This is a Christian company and will meet the requirement of the School Board that at least 50% of the music be Christian. There will also be at least six parent chaperones for the dance that have been approved by Wayne Dykstra.
Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the banquet. Some students meet at a friend’s home for pictures first, then all go to the banquet together. Some students are dropped off and picked up by their parents individually. Talk to your child to see if plans have been made.
I hope that I have answered at least most of your questions. If not please feel free to contact me, and I will try to supply the answers that you need.
Darla Redeker
Student Council Advisor
